The schedule and tickets have been released for this year’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, but the social distancing measures being implemented have sparked controversy among fans of the race.
Four different ticket options are available to a maximum of 4 thousand attendee’s, who will all be required to sit in grandstands surrounding one section of the racecourse.
Fans, like Cameron Steele, are questioning whether this is the best way to ensure social distancing on the racetrack.
“I don’t think it’s very COVID safe or social distancing. You can sit around the whole circuit, which they’re not using this year, and be really far away from everyone in your camp chairs,” He said, “Obviously safety comes first, But I think they could’ve done this a bit better.”
Support races and merchandising stands will not be present this year at the annual race, with only four support races set to go ahead alongside the main races.
