Bathurst Regional councillor Monica Morse has called for the implementation of gender quotas in local governments.
This comes as the NSW Government launches a new promotional campaign, encouraging more women torun in the 2021council elections.
The campaign involves a series of webinars and workshops to inspire and equip more women to stand for election.
Currently, women represent just 31 per cent of councillors within the State’s 128 councils.
In Bathurst, 2 out of 9 councillors are women.
Bathurst regional councillor Monica Morse believes quotas should be considered in the pursuit of achieving parity in gender representation.
