In a time of restricted movement and mass unemployment finding work isn’t the final obstacle for some Victorian job seekers, as 23-year-old Warrnambool resident Ashlee has found.
She was offered a job in July and was looking forward to beginning a new career, but due to social distancing requirements her employer was unable to provide her with training.
“I’m kind of left in the lurch. I’m still getting my JobSeeker payments but they’re about to be cut… I’m really hopeful the restrictions will ease soon and I’ll be able to start earning some money,” Ashlee said.
While, in the wake of Coronavirus restrictions many businesses managed to quickly create online training programs for new staff, it’s unclear how many were unable to do so.
