NSW Premier Gladys Berekiklian announced stricter border restrictions when entering into Victoria from Tuesday the 22nd July at midnight. The decision comes at no surprise after Victoria recorded 374 new COVID cases.
NSW residents who travel into Victoria beyond the borders bubble will need to self-isolate for 14 days upon their return.
Previous restrictions allowed residents to cross the border for ‘everyday life’. Now under the new limits, travel will only be permitted for three reasons – Work, Healthcare and Education. Residents will need to re-apply for a new permit through service NSW if they’re eligible to do so.
There are over 400 police officers, defence and emergency personal monitoring 55 crossings, including four major highways, bridges and waterways. They’re urging residents to expect delays with the new changes.
