Teams await soggy fields reopening

Heavy rainfall on Australia’s east coast has delayed pre-season training for clubs across NSW, impacting fitness and skills development.

Whilst the worst of the weather has passed, it is now a waiting game for local councils to reopen the grounds and allow sports to get back underway.

The delays follow disruptions last year, when the Delta variant of COVID-19 cut the 2021 football season short, just as teams began to play finals.

One Western Sydney club, Greystanes FC, was disappointed that its hard work of 2021 was not rewarded, but players are keen for the 2022 season in the newly founded X-League.
